I had so much fun and felt really inspired designing this collection. It all started with the gorgeous linen viscose, one of the last ones of this quality. If you haven’t bought any of these linens (used to make Across the City in Plaid and Sweet Potato and And She Was in Plaid), do it before it’s too late. The first thing I built for this collection was the colour palette. The mix of blue, rust, blush, and soft olive transported me to dreams of summer vacation. From a European getaway to a cottage in the northeast.
The styles and cuts are classic and romantic. They’re easy to wear and can be tossed on for a stroll on the boardwalk, dinner on a terrace, or even a summer wedding. The fabrics are all airy and comfortable made from all natural textiles.
After making the Bedside / Splash of Light combo in the floral last month, I wanted to bring back our Bedside 2.0 shorts in an everyday basic. (Somehow my favourite versatile colour these days are tones of light to dark salmon.) The Italian rust cotton was the perfect fabric for these, creating a zero-waste set by making the top back piece of the rust Detroit 442 from the scraps of the Heartbeats skirt.
Bedside 2.0 Sizing: Fit true to Lustre size. I would use the hip measurement as your base for sizing.
Some of you might remember the Detroit 442 top from 2 years ago. We had only made it in a yellow lace, but the cut is so perfect. It’s cropped but not too short, has a great boatneck cut, and is boxy but not too loose. I knew I wanted more of these in casual fabrics.
Detroit 442 Sizing: Fits true to Lustre size. If you want a more tailored look, you can go down a size.
And with that, we completed our throuple: the top will turn our Heartbeats skirt into a dress and our shorts into a romper. I love that you could build a whole summer wardrobe by adding these three items.
For months now, I’ve been thinking about how I could reuse the base of The Greatest pants from our silk loungewear collection into an everyday pant. I loved the silhouette and through the months got a lot of positive feedback from you. When I got the striped linen, I knew that was my fabric. Even though the Summertime pants were based on The Greatest, I had a lot of patterning to do. I kept the elastic in the back but added a drawstring in the front for a cleaner look. I took in the pants as well to get a better fit in the hips and butt while still keeping them comfortable. And you can’t have a summer pant without pockets! Considering my love of play on stripe, making the matching Detroit 442 with the horizontal stripes is the perfect summer combo. This sample came home with me and I’ve worn it so much as it’s prefect for those crazy humid days.
Summertime Sizing: Fits true to size. I would recommend the same sizing as The Greatest pants, and I would use your hip measurement as the base measurement for these as they cinch comfortably at the waist.
The blush Bound by a Thread is all you. Since launching these longline bralettes / crop camis, I’ve had some demand for a lighter colour. (Which makes a lot of sense to wear under lighter tops, especially for those with a lighter skin tone.) I didn’t love the idea of making white so this blush is perfect. Hope you love them as much as I do. (I’m thinking of also making a Cecilia in this tone. Dm me and let me know what you think.)
Bound by a Thread Sizing: Fits true to Lustre size. If you have a larger cup size, go one size up from what you usually get at Lustre.
Last but not least, we brought back the Little Sparrow dress in a neutral. You all ate this dress up the first time and I love this cut so much I wanted to bring it back. To be honest, this dress takes us so long to make; it takes forever to cut and sew and everyone complains, but we all love it so much and we will make it for years. The ruffle is what makes this dress; it creates dimension but also weight to pull down the drape of the skirt. The fabric is a bamboo modal and if I didn’t know better, I would assume its a silk viscose blend. It moves beautifully and is somehow matte and shiny at the same time.
Little Sparrow Sizing: Fits true to Lustre size. This cut is very adaptable, especially through the waist and hips. I recommend using the bust measurement as your guideline.
Hope you enjoy this collection and have fun wearing these pieces.
