For our first Spring collection of 2021 (launching tomorrow morning, April 14, 2021, at 9 AM EST), I wanted to offer pieces that you’ll be able to wear, whether it’s 5 degrees or 25. That means pieces made in really summery breezy fabrics that will let you sweat on the hottest of days while you can layer them well into the late fall. You can pair all of them with boots, sneakers, or sandals for flexibility and versatility.
Every garment in this collection is made of beautiful natural fabrics, including more linen and viscose blends and two new materials from the same supplier that brought you our super soft, sustainable French Terry. For summer, we bring you an organic cotton and hemp blend jersey and the most delicate Tencel rib!
Now for the clothes:
The Golden Gal “polo” shirt. This lightweight summer knitwear is a soft preppy basic. I made it in our long crop length, similar to our Starman or Cosmonauts. The fit is snug but the fabric is so airy that this top will be an instant classic for us. (Kind of ideal timing as I’m working on reviving our “basics” line.)
I’m bringing back our new Across the City pants in a gorgeous plaid. Same fabric (deadstock linen/viscose) as the Sweet Potato version we launched in February, although it might be a tad lighter. This wide a-line pant with flexible belt is at the same time soooooooo comfortable and so chic.
I also wanted to add a tunic dress that can be layered easily but light enough to wear to the beach or on those hot, humid summer days. That’s how the And She Was dress was born. You can order this dress true to size or one size up for a looser fit (which will nonetheless never be boxy thanks to the darts in the bust and back). This fabric is soft and light as air. Get ready for the heat waves.
And last but definitely not least is the Summerfling midi t-shirt dress. I’m in love with this cotton/hemp fabric and its perfect marigold colour. There are so many reasons to love hemp: it feels like raw silk, it’s naturally antibacterial, moisture-wicking, and keeps its colour. This blend with organic cotton keeps it soft, stretchy (but not clingy), and easy on the skin. The cut is the same as last summer’s tropical Restless Year dress, only in a stretchy fabric! So, it’s your 2021 nap dress. You’re welcome. Oh, and when it’s cloudy out, you can be your own sun.
