In the last few months, we've worked on really special one-off collections. It has been so much fun, but when it came to designing the collection that would launch at the same time as our 15th anniversary, I wanted to go back to basics.
Since the beginning of our Mini Monthly Collections launched last March, I wanted to find a way to showcase our classics line. Our basics or classics line has always been really important to Lustre's values as it's the best way to build a sustainable wardrobe. Not only are they tried and tested, but they are also often the first pieces that people buy. (Think building blocks of a sustainable wardrobe.)
Now basic doesn't mean boring.
A few months ago, when I decided to rebuild our basics line, I asked all you Lustre lovelies about your favourite pieces.
The Electric Body dress came up again and again, so here it is with a matching sweater. In this case, the Silver Spring hoodie is back after popular demand. As you'll see in our shoot, it can be worn so many ways. On its own, layered over a blouse, or worn under a crop top or jacket. Tights and booties, bare legs and sneakers. It doesn't matter the time of the year or what you're doing; this dress has got your back. Both pieces are made in the supersoft and extra dreamy Organic French Terry that's lightweight, breathable, and just a wee bit stretchy. Hello, comfort and summertime layering!
Now it's no surprise the Best Friend was mentioned so many times either. There are not many of you without a Best Friend skirt, but for a lot of us, after ten plus years, it's either a tad tight or short. So, we brought it back! I didn't change much, but rather just enough: I adapted and extended the sizing and added a little more length. The fabric (still classic black) is very similar to the original. A little bit lighter, it drapes so beautifully.
The new kid on the block and instant Lustre classic, the Bound by a Thread bralette or tank (you do you), has now been perfected in our pill-free jersey. This soft bra is surprisingly supportive while being incredibly comfortable, and if you know Lustre, you know our pill-free viscose. We recommend sizing the same way you do the Starman top.
I added the California Nights pants cause they've been my favourite pandemic pants. They feel like a jogger but look like a trouser. Plus, this Kelly green is so fun for Spring! Don't you think?
Now all of these are practical and beautiful, but if you've been keeping track, I said I would use Lustre double-deadstock fabric as much as possible. These are fabrics that are deadstock and leftover from our own production.
In the theme of Lustre classics, we also use prints in fun ways that feel new and original but also timeless. If you've been with us for a while, you know I love a good bow and voluminous sleeve. These new Honey Trap chiffon blouses offer both. They're great for zoom and brunch and are sure to get you a compliment every time you wear them. (And yes! I have hope that we will all go to brunch soon!!!)
For this month's zero-waste accessories, we have matching chiffon scrunchies. Cute, practical, and just the dash of colour you were looking for!
